With the unfortunate cancellation of a large proportion of country shows this year, we’ve decided to host our own virtual Oxford Sandy and Black pig Championship.
After much discussion amongst the committee we’ve put together a document that contains all the details around entries and rules and regs – this will be uploaded in due course.
The idea is that people will be able to upload a simple video of their pig moving, standing and a clear view of the underline. Pigs should be well presented – videos taken on flat ground will show of your pig better!
This is aimed at being a fun and simple show to join in with, for everyone within the society – no matter your experience around showing! Theres lots of helpful members with vast amounts of experience that will be willing to help and advice.
Classes will include the following.
Breeding Boar – of any age
Breeding Sow – of any age
Gilts 2019/2020 born
There will be a first, second and third rosette given out within each class, leading to a Champion and Reserve Champion to be awarded overall.
This virtual competition will be judged by experienced breeder and certified judge Peter Colson.
Entries will be simple via video upload to social media, or emailed in and uploaded on your behalf.
Full details out in due course!
We’re really excited to see everyone’s stock!
Please note. All entries must be of registered stock and entries will be of no charge to society members, anybody still needing to join can do so via our secretary
Along with the full details, various helpful videos will be uploaded around bathing pigs, showing pigs and breed standards. In addition we’ll provide example videos of how yours should look!
Our virtual pig show will run from May 1st through to September 1st 2020, with the prizes being awarded on Monday 7th of September – This will be announced on our website and social media platforms and the rosettes and championship sash’s will be posted to you.
